10 Tips on How To decorate A Minimalist Bedroom.
minimalist bedroom of your dreams… but you’re not quite sure where to begin. Or, you’re concerned that, in order to cultivate a minimalist-inspired modern bedroom feel, you ’re going to have to spend a small fortune.
The truth is, though, creating a minimalist bedroom does not have to be expensive, or time consuming. You also do not need to be staring at different Magazine to get the best idea.
Tips To Create a Better Minimalist Bedroom decor
1) Create Space and discard Junks
Seriously though, it’s time for your junk to go! Carefully rummage through your bedroom belongings and put away anything that doesn’t positively make your heart SING. This goes for photos, random wall hangings, clothes and anything of the like. Keep in mind that by clearing away your bedroom debris, you’re just making space for things that matter.
2. Remember That Minimalism Isn’t About Creating A Cold, Threadbare Space
Minimalism is about editing, pure and simple – editing your knick-knack selection, editing your wardrobe, and really just clearing your room. It’s about simplifying your surroundings, and by extension, your life. What it isn’t about, though, is creating some sort of prison-esque room with a single mattress on the floor.
When crafting your perfect minimalist bedroom, you shouldn’t be sacrificing warmth or coziness by getting rid of virtually all your belongings. Its simply and editing process. Your bedroom is truly one of the most important rooms in your home, and it should look and feel like a place where you want to spend a lot of your time.
3. Pick Out A Simple Bed
Picking out the right bedframe for the particular minimalist feel you’re going for will make all the difference in the world – since your bed is essentially the focal point of your bedroom, the perfect minimalist bedframe will really set the tone for the whole room’s atmosphere. A metallic bedframe, or platform are all great choices for a minimalist bed – any of these would serve as a terrific jumping-off point for the rest of your décor.
4. Purchase Neutral-Colored Bedding
Neutralized tones (think soft beiges, creamy whites, or pale greys) are the gateway to achieving a true minimalist feel in your bedroom. Remember, it’s all about getting back to basics – too many clashing, crazily-colored patterns won’t give you the Zen vibe that you’re after. Plus, by dousing your bedroom in a neutral palette, you’ll be able to add in splashes of an accent color later on.
5. In Fact, Purchase Neutral-Colored Everything
No, we’re not advocating for sprinting to West Elm to spend an arm and a leg on a multitude of khaki-colored throw pillows (going minimal is decidedly NOT about breaking the bank) – but, when you do elect to buy a new piece for your bedroom, make sure that it fits in with whatever neutral color scheme you’ve decided on. Once again, color clashes will only ruin the aesthetic you’re working so hard to curate!
6. Bring in the Natural Light
Lighting in a minimalist bedroom is almost an accessory all on its own – in a room with the least amount of furniture possible, lighting can make a huge difference. If you have the option, clear away your curtains (unless they’re sheer) and bring in a big swath of natural light to your bedroom. This will help to make the room feel more open, modern, and altogether more minimal.
7. Hang ONE Piece of Artwork You Love
The idea that we need to cover every bare inch of our walls with photos or paintings in order for a room to feel “complete” just isn’t part of the minimalist ideal or aesthetic. Whether you’ve built up a mini art collection or simply aspire to do so, try to select a single piece of artwork that you cherish wholeheartedly and would enjoy seeing every time you walked into your bedroom.
Now, don’t ruin the affect by putting anything else on the walls! Just as the bed in a minimalist bedroom acts as the focal point of the entire room, so does what’s hanging above it.
8. Add a Pop of Green in the Form of a Plant
A well-placed plant in a minimalist bedroom is a fun, simple and earthy touch – this is a great way to add a pop of color to a neutralized room! Just make sure that your plant doesn’t crowd your artwork, or vice versa.
For a modern-looking houseplant that’s also easy to care for, try a rubber plant, a philodendron, a fiddle leaf fig, or (our personal fave) a string of pearls from a hanging basket. A bouquet of brightly-colored, freshly-picked flowers would also do the trick quite nicely – just be sure they’re in a neutral-toned vase or clear jar.
9. Try to Get Down to a Single Dresser or Chest of Drawers
There’s nothing like a couple clunky chests of drawers to put a damper on your minimalist-chic visual. If you can manage, getting by on a single dresser or set of drawers will help to keep your bedroom looking as decluttered as possible. If you’re not able to do this, try to keep your dressers as far away from the bed as possible – you want the space around your bed to be simplistic and clutter-free.
10. Use One Shelf for Carefully-Chosen Mementos, Photos & Books
Pick one shelf and stick to it! If you’re the type of person that likes to have keepsakes and certain sentimental items in plain sight, you don’t need to give this up on your quest to minimalism – you do, however, need to ensure that it all stays relegated to a single shelf.
How Often Should You wash your Hair (Haircare)
Why you should wash your hair often.
Lots of factors influence the poor conditioning of our hair. These factor, influence how often we must wash out hair for proper growth and nourishment of your hair. They include but not limited to the following:
1. Hair Oil
Oil is the biggest culprit behind what we consider “dirty” hair. It can leave hair limp and clumpy. How much oil you produce depends on your age,, sex, and environment. Children and older adults do not produce as much sebum as teenagers or adults in their 20s and 30s. While you may have once struggled with an oily scalp, your scalp can slowly become drier as you age.
“There are some people with really fragile hair that becomes easily damaged with the act of washing. Those people might want to wash their hair every other week,” says Hughes. “There is an enormous range of how often a person might need to wash their hair.”
Some people produce enough oil to need to wash their hair daily, but they are not the majority, according to Hughes. Most people only produce enough oil to wash every couple of days.
Straight and thin hair needs to be washed more frequently than curly or wavy hair. Straight hair is easily coated by sebum, which means it looks greasy much faster. Thick, wavy, or curly hair tends to be dry since the oil doesn’t coat the strands as easily. Sebum is an important part of beautiful, well-defined curls, because curly hair needs more moisture to stay soft and prevent frizzing.
African-American hair needs to be washed the least. Overwashing, especially with harsh shampoos, can damage hair and lead to hair shortage, especially when combined with chemical treatments or hair styles like tight braids that tug at the roots.
No one is surprised that a sweaty workout can mess up your ’do. How much you sweat is a big factor in how frequently you need to wash, or at least rinse, your hair. Sweat can spread sebum and make your hair look and feel dirty. It can also cause your hair to smell less than fresh. Hughes recommends shampooing after sweaty workouts and anytime you wear a hat or helmet for extended periods of time.
4. Physical dirt or pollen
Gardening, cleaning, and other messy tasks may be cause for a wash. Dirt, dust, and pollen can all get trapped on the hair. Not only will these make your hair look dull, but they can also reduce allergies
5. Styling products
Styling products can build up on your hair and scalp and lead to irritation and damage. Frequent or heavy product can lead to wash your hair more frequently than if you skip the creams and sprays.
Reasons you should not over wash your hair.
Shampoo is designed to clean the scalp and remove excess oil. But if it’s overused or if you work it all the way down the length of your hair, shampoo can damage your hair. Shampoo strips the important oils the scalp produces and can leave the hair and scalp too dry. To prevent this, only shampoo the roots of your hair. The ends will be cleaned when you rinse the shampoo out of your roots.
“I see more problems with people overwashing their hair than you would think,” says Hughes. “If people didn’t rely on these detergents so much the quality of people’s skin would probably be better, especially as people get older. People in their 40s and 50s who are still washing their hair and scrubbing themselves as if they were teenagers are really damaging their skin. It takes a long time to fix that.”
Dandruff and shampoo
Your dandruff may actually be a sign of overwashing. Dry hair, itching, and persistent flaking or dandruff are all symptoms of an overly dry scalp. But that doesn’t mean we should all banish washing our hair forever.
“There’s a feeling out there that some of the natural hair oils are helpful for the hair and that’s certainly true, especially for people with curly hair,” says Hughes, “but you don’t need all of the oil you are producing on the hair all the time.”
Shampooing less often is more of a personal preference. Some people may experience itching when they wash less frequently. But for the most part, shampooing less will only change the appearance and feel of the hair.
How Long Can You Go Without Washing Your Hair?
Many people don’t wash their hair every time they bathe — and for good reason. Over-washing can strip natural oils from your hair, making it dull, dry, and coarse.
But not washing your hair enough may lead to conditions like dandruff or itchy scalp.
How often you should wash your hair can be different for everyone, depending on your activity level and the type of hair you have. Knowing more about hair and scalp health can help you figure out the best hair-washing schedule for you.
After effect of not washing hair
Despite all of the potential benefits, there are also side effects of not washing your hair, especially for an extended period of time.
It could slow hair growth
The main factors that affect hair growth and the growth cycle are:
- overall health
- hair care
Treating your hair gently can promote hair health. This can include things like using a towel gently, not using hairdryers or turning down their heat, and going to a salon.
If you don’t wash your hair, dirt and hair care products may build up on your scalp, potentially affecting hair growth.
Oils and grime can be trapped, creating odor
When you don’t wash your hair, oils may accumulate on your scalp. This can cause odor on the scalp and hair.
If you use hair care products, these can also build up on your scalp and create odors, even if the products themselves smell good.
Hairs may become ingrown
If there’s buildup of product or oils on the scalp, you might experience ingrown hair. This is when a hair grows back into the scalp. It’s often painful.
Wash you hair two or three times a week, to avoid hair Loss and damage
Things You Must Know Before You Get a Lip Piercing
The lips can say a whole lot about you and when you adorn them with piercings, they say a whole lot more. With such a wide array of lip and cheek piercings, it can be hard to find the right piercing for you. Whether you’re looking for a sleek and simple single lip piercings, or you’d like to go all-out with quadrupel lip piercings, you’ll love the canvas that the lips provide. Here is a complete list of all lip piercings to make your lip piercing journey a little easier.
As cool as lip rings are, there are a few facts you’d probably like to know about beforehand to make you feel a bit more comfortable going into your piercing appointment.
What is a Lip Piercing?
A lip piercing is, well, a piercing on your upper or lower lip. One of the reasons a lip piercing is always such a popular choice is thanks to the sheer amount of style options available and ways to customize them. No placement is better than the other, but there might be one that better suits your personal style.
Different Types of Lip piercings
Side labret piercing: Simply stated, a side labret lip piercings is a single, off-centered piercing of the lower or upper lip, usually done with a 14G or 16G needle. This is probably the most common lip piercings type and what you might think of when you think of a lip piercing.
Monroe piercing: Consisting of a single piercing appearing on the right side of the upper lip, Monroe piercings are named for the beauty mark that the late Marilyn Monroe sported on her lip.
Madonna piercing: The Madonna piercing is the exact opposite of the Monroe piercing; it’s a single piercing that appears in the upper lip to the left.
Medusa piercing: Also known as the philtrum piercing, the Medusa piercing appears in the skin above the upper lip at the center.
Labret piercing: The labret piercing is centrally located just below the lower lip.
Jewelry: The labret piercing is one of the more versatile, and it can wear various hoop styles (like captive bead rings, seamless hoops, and clickers), flat back lip studs, and circular barbells.
Vertical labret piercing: Simultaneously similar and quite different to the labret piercing, the vertical labret piercing lives up to its name as a piercing done vertically with an entry hole going through the bottom lip itself and an exit hole going through the labret.
Jewelry: A curved barbell is the only jewelry that can be worn in a vertical labret piercing.
Ashley piercing: An adaptation of the vertical labret, the Ashley piercing is placed on the bottom lip itself. Unlike the vertical labret piercing, the exit hole appears on the inside of the mouth rather than the outside.
Jewelry: You will wear a flat-back labret stud in your Ashley piercing.
Jestrum piercing: With an entry point just above the center top lip and and an exit point the center of the top lip itself, a Jestrum piercing is basically an upside down vertical labret.
Pain and Healing Time
A lip piercing is going to hurt, but it’s tolerable. Like most body piercings, the procedure itself will be quick, and the biggest concern will be the aftercare. Of course, with the sensitive nature of the piercing placement, you’ll need to be extra careful not to snag, bite, or otherwise accidentally bump or move your jewelry in your new piercing. This type of friction can might not only prolong the healing but also cause unnecessary added discomfort.
Brace yourself, because the healing time for a lip piercings is around 2 to 3 months, depending on your body and how you heal.1 “With your mouth, you’re talking, eating, and drinking all day long, so it can be a tough one,” Thompson says. “You’re healing a fistula, and that’s a tunnel of scar tissue being built around the jewelry, so it takes time. The body’s going to seal off the exterior first to prevent bacteria, then it’s going to start healing inwards, so it takes a while.”
As with any piercing, there are important steps to keeping the area clean and preventing infection. Says piercer Cozmo Faris, “Use an alcohol-free mouthwash three to five times a day to flush the inside of the piercing. These flushes should happen anytime after the person eats or drinks. For the outside of the piercing, a sterile saline wound wash such as H2Ocean or Neilmed should be used twice daily to irrigate the area; a five-second saturation should do the trick followed by letting the area air-dry.”
Possibly the most important thing to do to encourage the healing process? Be patient. “As it starts healing outwards, you’ll think it’s healed. But what you don’t realize is it’s still healing internally, so you stop taking care of it, then it regresses,” says Dr. Howard Sobel, founder of Sobel Skin and Attending Dermatologist and Dermatologic Surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. In other words, be diligent about taking care of the area for the first three months, and help out your immune system by eating right, staying hydrated, and avoiding stress.
After Effect of Lip Piercings
- Infection: Since you’re dealing with your mouth, which has a lot of bacteria, there’s great potential for infection. And since lip piercings are often on the outside of your skin and inside of your mouth, you’ll want to keep both ends of the piercing clean. Brush your teeth after every meal and use alcohol free mouthwash
- Swelling and inflammation: “While some swelling is normal, proper aftercare of the piercing will keep it under control and help it heal,” says Sobel. If you smoke cigarettes, try to stop. “Alcohol and smoking will cause more inflammation,” Thompson says. “If you can’t abstain for a few weeks after getting it pierced, I’d say wait for a time when you can.
